Anne has worked in leadership and governance across a variety of roles including NHS and Chair of a Diocesan Safeguarding Commission. Anne is also a magistrate so witnesses the impact of poor and positive safeguarding day to day as well as at a strategic level.

Ellen has been involved with the current restructuring of safeguarding since it began in 2019. Ellen brings safeguarding knowledge from other countries being involved in Scottish and Australian safeguarding structures.

Non-executive Director Christopher is a member of St. Joseph’s Missionary Society (Mill Hill Missionaries). He worked for several years in Cameroon and is currently a Parish priest in Hexham & Newcastle where he serves on the Safeguarding Committee. He is a canon lawyer and a member of his society’s regional council and the Safeguarding Lead for the Mill Hill Missionaries.

Jeremy’s professional background is in corporate relations. After Oxford, he started in the technology sector, with roles at BT, Cable & Wireless and Nortel Networks, and then spent eight years as a senior civil servant in Whitehall, in the Department of Health and the Department for Transport. That was followed by roles at Serco, the outsourced public services operator, the healthcare regulator, NHS Improvement and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.

Alongside his civilian career, Jeremy has been a life-long Army reservist: he retired as a brigadier in 2021 and his service included various senior command and staff appointments and two operational tours, in Kosovo and Afghanistan.

Marcus is an independent Safeguarding Consultant and past Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editor of the Journal of Sexual Aggression (Taylor and Francis) as well as a past Chair of NOTA (the National Organisation for the Treatment of Abusers). He spent the majority of his employed career in various roles at the NSPCC.

David is a Religious of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). He was the provincial of the Order for 10 years. David is a trained Social Worker and Psychotherapist and has worked in safeguarding for more than 30 years.

Non-executive Director Philip comes to RLSS after a 42 year career in the central government civil service, the Financial Services Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority where he acquired a deep knowledge of organisation culture and the assessment and management of risk. Philip also brings to the Board the perspective of a victim of childhood abuse by clergy.
