Child Protection

Laws are passed to prevent behaviour that can harm children or require action to protect children. Guidance sets out what organisations should do to play their part to keep children safe.

The children’s act 2004

A child is defined as a person under the age of eighteen.  There is a statutory duty to work with local authorities in child protection. This includes information sharing, in conducting investigations of children who may be in need or subject to abuse.
